Semester 2 Starts Monday...

I finally went to see Transformers 2 today. I sat in the last row of seats because I usually get headaches from staring at the cinema screen for too long and sure enough I got one after watching two-thirds of the film.

At the end of the film I couldn't help but feel that Transformers 2 was lacking in something or more precisely, someone. I wish Jazz hadn't been killed off in the first film. For the battle scene in Egypt I could imagine him first in vehicle mode speeding towards a Decepticon, then suddenly transforming into robot mode and running at it while firing his weapon before back-flipping over the 'con, landing on its shoulders and twisting its head. Too far-fetched? My imagination took off when I started remembering the 80s Jazz choosing to run instead of drive through the finish line during credits.

I got giddy when I saw Optimus Prime and Bumblebee again, mainly because they were the only bots I could recognize from their colours (and Optimus Prime's voice was kinda like the 80s version). I wish they had given the other bots their traditional colours or made references to them (when was Racthet ever yellow?). I swear all I saw was grey metal and monotones.

I liked Ravage, though. Naughty metal kitty. I enjoyed watching Megatron beat up Starscream most of all. I thought that was awesome. I felt my heart skip when I heard the words "Obama" and "Swine Flu" in the film. Kudos for keeping up with events, guys.

Tick: Death. The eternal blink. The capricious dance of Now Ya Stop Movin' Forever. Well contrary to popular belief, death isn't just for dead people. It can happen to anyone.
